TBT-S Level 1 Training: Introduction Description and Expectations:

  • One-day face-to-face TBT-S training, or 
  • 6 hours minimum of virtual video TBT-S trainings, accessible to view any time,  
  • There are more than 6 hours of TBT-S Training Videos offered.  Professionals can choose the virtual trainings that best fit their practices or educational settings.
  • Both face-to-face and virtual options offer handouts.  
  • Video trainings range from 15 minutes ($5.00), 1/2 hour ($9.00), & 1 hour ($18.00).
  • Each video is followed by quiz questions.
  • Professionals and Peer Supports are eligible for Level 1.
  • A Certificate of Completion is awarded when Level 1 requirements are met.

TBT-S Level 2 Training: Intermediate Description and Expectations

  • Level 2: Intermediate TBT-S Training is application and practice of TBT-S clinical tools. 
  • This is a 3-day TBT-S Training.
  • Level 2 Trainings are face-to-face.
  • TBT-S clinical and client tools  and modules are "tried on" and practiced while being coached on how, when, why and where the tools could be applied to augment ongoing therapies.
  • Professional clinical, medical, dietary and other trained mental health workers, or university faculty, are eligible for Level 2. 
  • State and province board and legal requirements require having liability insurance, or one's clinical program or educational site covers liability. 
  • There are two versions of Level 2:

  1. Child/adolescent and young adult TBT-S Training addressing child and young adult development and how TBT-S builds upon family therapy.
  2. Adult TBT-S Training  (18 yrs. and above). This includes tools for Severe-and-Enduring Anorexia Nervosa.  


 Prerequisites:  

  1. Read the TBT-S Manual.  
  2. Successfully completed Introductory Level 1 TBT-S Training.

TBT-S Level 3 Training: Certified TBT-S Treatment Provider (This criteria is under review and will

  • Four  two-hour trainings offered over a 1-year period of time.
  • Level 3 is all live virtual case consultations.
  • Level  3 integrates and synthesizes TBT-S clinical and client tools and modules into clinicians' ongoing eating disorder treatment programs or outpatient practices. 
  • Professional medical, dietary and mental health workers, or university faculty, are eligible for Level 3. 
  • Clinicians bring case examples and ongoing questions for supervision and exploration of TBT-S integration.
  • Level 3 is tailored to each practice setting and clinician needs. 
  • Upon completion of Level 3, professionals are "TBT-S Certified!"


Prerequisites:  

  1. Read the TBT-S Manual. 
  2. Level 1: Introductory Level TBT-S Training.
  3. Level 2: Application and Practice Level TBT-S Training

TBT-S Certified Trainer (This criteria is under review and will be updated in June 2023)

  (updated 3.31.2023)

  1. Read the Temperament Based Therapy with Support book by Hill, Peck and Wierenga, 2022.
  2. Licensed professionals or university medical, clinical or mental health faculty are eligible to be a TBT-S Certified Trainer.
  3. Choose age level for certification training: adolescent, adult or both.
  4. Participate and pass Level 1 quizzes from video courses on the website, or face-to-face training.
  5. Observe a 5-day treatment program in action: either adolescent or adult or both.
  6. Participate in Level 2 TBT-S Training
  7. Lead Level 1 and Level 2  TBT-S Trainings while coached and supervised by  adult and/or adolescent TBT-S Co-Developer(s) face-to-face.
  8. Participate in 8 hours of Level 3 consultation on integration of TBT-S into practice.
  9. Lead 8 hours under supervision of adult and/or adolescent Level 3 consultations (2 hours segments live virtual) .
  10. Collect training participant feedback when being supervised for Levels 1 and 2 and 3.
  11.  Take and pass a final  TBT-S exam .
  12. All TBT-S Certified Trainers participate in two extended meetings a year to update and align and discuss new neurobiological research and treatment tools and strategies.

$350.00 per hour.
